Cart policy for this hull

Either cart type is reasonable

Moderate weight and a forgiving hull. Most cart types work; a bunk cart handles the shallow-V better than flat pads.

Hull shape and cart contact

Cross-section of the shallow-v hull of the Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120, showing where it would contact a flat cart pad Flat pad reference plane
Meets a flat pad on a narrow strip along the keel. Orange marks where the hull would meet a flat pad. Illustrative shape diagram, not a scale drawing — no dimension can be read from it.

Shallow-V

A rounded or V-shaped bottom touches a flat pad along a narrow strip near the keel, so the boat wants to roll. A contoured bunk or V-cradle removes that problem; a flat platform leaves the strap doing the work.

Not published by Wilderness Systems. Scupper carts are commonly used on Tarpons by owners, but we have no manufacturer confirmation that the holes are load-bearing.

Carts assessed against this kayak

Evaluated on hard-packed ground with no gear aboard. That is a generous baseline — add a loaded tackle crate and a battery in the finder and the picture changes.
